Unique Ways To Use Essential Oils In Your Daily Routine
Incorporating essential oils into your everyday routine can truly benefit overall mental and physical health. No matter what time it is, there’s an essential oil to perfectly complement your mood and desire. Below, check out some different ways to use a variety of essential oils in your daily regimen.
Invigorate Your Senses In The Shower
Finding the motivation to wake up and get going in the morning can be difficult. For an invigorating revitalizing experience in the comfort of your own home, try putting a few drops of your favorite citrus essential oil – grapefruit, orange, lemon, neroli, or bergamot – on a washcloth and placing it just a few inches away from your showerhead during your morning rinse. The hot water vapor mixed with the oil on the cloth creates an energizing, aromatic experience that will keep you going all day long.
Make Your Own Toothpaste
Instead of buying toothpaste from the drug store, try making your own whitening toothpaste with this simple recipe:
- 2 tablespoons organic unrefined coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 15-20 drops of minty essential oil (We love peppermint and cinnamon!)
Farmacy Tip: Add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to your shampoo and conditioner to stimulate hair growth and a healthy scalp!
Increase Your Focus & Concentration At Work
Whether you’re at your desk, in a meeting or doing homework, eventually your morning cup of caffeine (a.k.a. motivation) will fade away. Luckily, there are a few essential oils that can swoop in to save the day. Introducing: Sandalwood, Frankincense and Cedarwood! Apply a few drops to the wrist or mix them into a base oil like coconut or almond to help you finish the workday strong.
Clear Your Sinuses
Allergies? Stuffy nose? Coming down with a cold? Try combining rosemary, eucalyptus and lemon essential oils to get some sweet relief. When it comes to clearing the nasal passages, one of the best methods is steam inhalation. It’s easy – just add 10-20 drops of your oil of choice to a small pot of water, bring the water to a light boil, lean over the pot and inhale the medicinal vapors through your nose and mouth. If you’re multi-tasking and don’t have time to stand over the stove, you can also put this blend into an essential oil diffuser to experience the same benefits.
Calm Down Before Bed
Falling asleep can often be harder than waking up. Whether you suffer from insomnia, or you just can’t seem to get your brain to turn off, essential oils can help with just about anything. Try combining a mixture of lavender and chamomile with a base oil, or apply the oils directly to your pillow to ensure that you get a restful sleep all throughout the night. You can also use this combination in your bath or shower to experience its relaxing effects. Your mind and body will thank you!
One note of caution: essential oils are an amazing tool for fans of all ages- but we recommend checking with an expert before applying them to children and babies and before using them if you’re pregnant.
